First, determine the value of your vehicle. Consult the Kelley Blue Book as a starting point, and take the condition of the car into account. Navigating the Sale
Next, you should find a reputable dealer. This is important because you want someone who will be fair and honest. Call around to dealers and junkyards in the area, including other cities. Pay attention to how friendly and knowledgeable the customer service representatives are, how fast they say they can get out to you, and what estimate they provide. You may find that you’ll get very different offers, depending on whether or not the car is drivable. Remember that each state has laws, such as lemon laws, that govern the purchase of junk cars; make sure you know what these are and if they apply.
Completing the Deal
During negotiation, you and your buyer will agree on a price based at least in part on how the car will be delivered. If you can drive or tow it in yourself, do so. This saves you money in the end. You then turn the license plates over to the buyer, as well as the registration and title, and may fill out damage disclosure paperwork (either as a form on the back of the title, or as a separate item). Make sure you get the payment before you’ve signed the car over. Collect a bill of sale and receipt, and don’t forget to cancel your registration with the state. Also, make sure your car is removed from property tax records so you don’t continue to pay for it. Selling a junk car can be easier than trying to sell a fully-functioning one, but you still need to protect yourself as much as possible. Pay attention to these details, and you’ll be armed with the knowledge you need.

Thank you very much for all of your advice. I have this old car that is just taking up space in my driveway, and I would very much like to get rid of it. If I can, I would like to make some money off of it, so I'm thinking about selling it to a junk car buyer. I don't have much experience with selling junk cars, so I figured I should do some research on the subject.
